Okay I know I'm 17, but I hate any music from 1994 to current music. Except for P.I.L. This band was formed in the 80's buy the ex lead singer of a punk rock back in the late 70's, known as the Sex Pistols. His name is John Lydon(A.K.A. Johny Rotten). For some reason his words always speak to me. He always spoke the truth about the world. His music still speaks the truth even for the modern times. Since I can't post links until 7 days after I've joined the website, I'm to post the name of my most favorite song from P.I.L. below. Listen to what he says & ignore the get up he wears(even though it's funny). I hope his words influence you like have done with me. Enoy. Very Happy

Look this up on Youtube. P.I.L. Rise. If you like this song, I know you'll love the others.

P.S. Public Image Limited is still going strong even in modern times.

Music like this harms me. I'll tell you why.

    1. My mother left me when I was 6.
    2. Emotional Brain Chemical Imbalance. I have to take medicine.
    3. I have a half sister but I've only been able to see her twice in my life.
    4. My girlfriend killed herself a few year ago. Her parents blame & never let me visit her grave.
    5. Recently found out my mother abandoned my Half Sister & left her with her with my crazy bitch of a grandmother.
    6. I am a recovered alcoholic & smoker.
    7. I am only 17 & have went through all this shit.

To put it simply. Dark music make me think of suicide.

Sorry to hear all of that. That is alot of shit to go though. What pepole dont understand about manson is he him self has gone though a lot of shit to. He uses his music to express his self. like in the vid you see him as a child and the old man is his grandfather who molested him at a young age. This is why he kills him in the vid. Manson is not trying to make kids depressed he is showing look i have been through a lot of shit and my music is how i get over it. i have been though a lot in life too and this is how i feel about "dark" music. I am sorry if i have awaken suicidal thoughts for you that was never my intentions.

Its only dark music if you think of it as such

I'm a lot like you, been through literal hell and back and I find dark music completely empowering
It makes me remember a time when I was powerless and reminds me that I have all the power in the world

Its all perception and strength of mind

    Amen, brother Ben! lol

Everything in life is mind over matter. If we think of it like this, everything becomes a little easier to manage.

To quote a movie we all should know, " There is no sppon." - The Matrix

Or, and I like this one the best, "Be like water, friend." - Bruce Lee

You guys are right. That's why I still listen to Joy Division, X, & the original Christian Death. That's enough to suit my taste buds though. All I hope is that you guys don't judge me because of my past.

First of all no one has judged you or your past! This all started because of you post and I quote "I like Manson myself. But I'm not a big fan of his new stuff.". See that you said u liked manson i offered you one of his new vids. You started bashing quote unquote dark music and I said my piece of mind on it. I really hate it when people bash music and TV. TV is TV music is music and real life is real life. Me personal I listen to all kinds of music I even had my bout with Christian rock (DC talk, and Jars of clay mainly)I will and have stuck up for any and all music

No you completely misunderstood me. My girlfriend loved Marylin Manson. But every time I hear his stuff(old or new) I'm reminded of her. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. When it's bad I think of suicide. When it's good, I'm the happiest man in the world. The one song that me & her loved was Marylin Manson's The Beautiful People. The new stuff just makes me with she was here. That's all. If I have offended you or anyone else, please forgive me. I did not wish for this. Again sorry.

Okay. THis conversation is getting a little too heated.

The point here is that music is what you make of it. When you make the music out to be bad, it turns ugly. The idea behind music is to help remind us of certain people, or events in our lives.

Try this. When you hear one of those songs that make you depressed and longing for your g/f, remember that she would not want you to remember her as such. I'm pretty sure that our loved ones who have passed would want us to remember them in the best way possible. Remember the things you did with her and laugh, smile, and even shed a tear in rememberance of her. But do not let it go further then that.

Letting yourself get too deep into depression over her loss is not doing you any good. And it is not honoring her memory either. You do her spirit harm by thinking in such a way.
